Piers,

Jan is probably still under a few meters snow, and is staring at his lamps most of the times, so seems to be no threat from that side.
And our province/ken is still under semi-emergency where the government asks not to cross borders of provinces, and as you are living long enough in Japan to know that you follow the rules in all circumstances, I feel also rather safe at the moment.
But I will monitor all of this (snow, covid and the remaining wick of Jan's candles) very closely.

ok, my children reminded me that guns can shoot from far so I should take my hobby (read: this threat) more serious, so in the hope that all will be forgiven, this picture from that book. I guess that is the gun that Piers saw?

p.s. and Piers, to say it in your native language: you have bloody good eyes (or also this catalog ;-) )

The vikings fight in all kind of weathers, even if we prefere sitting infront of an Andon sipping tea during the coldest months 🙂🙂🙂

Now that’s a very interesting Tazuke. Five sights 😳 Thanks for posting this picture, Jo.
I’m leaning towards pre Sekigahara on this one. Any takers?

Really interesting photo and caption, Jo. Possibly the founder of the school. Will need to check that. Many thanks for this.

(Both Jan and I have nice examples of Tazuké-Ryū matchlocks.)
