Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
Dear friends, or should I say family?
What a mindblowing week! I think this was the best and will be the best meeting we ever had and will have, this cannot be redone. What an incredible fantastic week. The organisation (thank you all!!!!), the ambiance, all fantastic meetings and talks among friends, the lunches, the diners, all the musea, the lectures and: too many, really, tooooo many armour but that's okay right?
We all are not only collectors of j-armours, we also collect catalogs don't we?
I counted 10 catalogs in my suitcase, thank you so much for these fantastic gifts!
Thank you all for your friendship and good times.
I sorted out right away the pictures of the people and the ambiance on my dropbox, check out the link to get my pictures.
Would you all be so kind sharing the pics please?
If anyone has a picture of me on it, please send it to me by, dropbox, wetransfer or to my email: mischadh@yahoo.com
Thank you so much!
Have a good recovery weekend.

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
Mischa,
Thanks for that, great pictures that really capture the feeling and camaraderie of the whole symposium. I’m sitting here in the cold, wet UK reliving the events of last week, teriffic memories!

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
Step 6 : Presentation of the European armor of the Kings and Princes of Frances from the " Sengoku" period to our Japanese friends of the NKBKHK delegation from Japan by the JAS members at the Museum of the Army of the Invalides Paris. These were particularly impressed by the imposing size of François the first riding his horse and the child armor of Louis XIII, as well as the work of Ushidashi of some helmets.
Mr. Nagata, President of the NKBKHK who had visited this museum in the past, enjoyed revisiting the tomb of Napoleon Ier.

I'm already well into my post-Grand Tour blues...
How depressing to come back to reality after spending so much time with close - and new - friends immersing ourselves in our passion...

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
Dear Peter ... with a little luck we can share a good meal with red wine ... at the beginning of the next week ... you just need a new fly ticket to Paris ... when we're crazy. . everything is possible...finally walking in the galleries I thought of our role as ambassador of our Namban culture a bit like during 16th century .. with our Japanese friends... whose boat was stranded this time on ... our barbarian shores .Anyway Peter .. this time I have recovered two very technological helmets .. to rape Gruyere and cut the ham ... you will buy a "French baguette" of fresh bread at the baker shop before coming to my home... Peter ...Bon appétit ! these helmets are crazy!

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
John I have a thing not to depress .... I think future studies to lead ... for example you could help me on a little study concerning the different mechanisms of rifles ... You are a specialist no? why not? ... Neither do I.... you see it goes right now ! Yes I know you will prefer when I say and do only stupidities ... like: John this study must be finished for end of next week will be fine ! (and very appreciate by .. our président) Anyway, there will be a guard from Saxony company tomorrow morning in front of your door with his big and honed halberd .No words ... no arms !

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
John,
Teriffic news, although I couldn’t be in Berlin in person I did participate in the late night “lectures” in Amsterdam. I’m very interested to hear the “ruling”!
Exciting times!

Re: The Japanese Legacy Symposium
The following are pictures from the inaugural Japanese Legacy Armor Fair, featuring the fantastic katchu wares of Giuseppe Piva Japanese Art; Jones & Jones Oriental Art; Philippe Leemans; Henk Milius and Peter Finer. The event was a feast for the eyes and a collector's dream.
