Not the Real Deal #3 - Fake Toppai Kabuto

Post by John Wee Tom »

I came across this armour today on eBay and thought I'd post it here as another example of a fake.

First, the armour itself. On first glance, the dō looks fine, but the gessan jump out right away.

Same with the sode:

But, it's the kabuto that takes the cake. The maker probably knows some things about what makes an old toppai, but the lack of quality, details and patina speak for themselves:

Be careful out there!
