Mischa,
I'm going to the Royal Museum of Fine Arts to catch an exhibition by photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto before the meeting. Let me know if you want to meet up for lunch before the meeting.

Re: JAS research meeting in Brussels
Some of my pics...
First, Mischa and I met up before the meeting:
The location of our meeting in the magnificent Grand Place, courtesy of one of our JAS members:
JAS president, Luc Taelman gave an introduction to the topic of the day: the development of koboshi kabuto. Speaking about the history, technical qualities and merits of such kabuto, he started with a chronology of kabuto with hoshi/boshi starting from the Heian period and moving through the Kamakura, Nambokucho and Muromachi period and then finally with the koboshi kabuto as we know them today from the Momoyama and Edo periods. Of course, the important schools for koboshi kabuto were discussed: Haruta; Joshu; Soshu; Nagamichi; Bamen; Saotome; etc..
Several members brought fine examples of kabuto from their collections, including top quality examples of Haruta; Joshu; Bamen; and Saotome.

Afterward of course, food, wine and merriment ensued...
