We are proud to present our first JAS Yearbook. All members will receive it this week, those who attended the symposium already have it.
Good articles about menpo, the Meiko Zukan, the evolution of toppainari kabuto, and much more.

I would like to add that for the article ofthe Toppai nari kabuto, we had the full collaboration of Mr. Takemura,the original author who updated this article with new findings since the original article was written and who looked for color pictures as the original articles in the magazine was black and white. Mr. Nagata, the president of the NKBKHK was heavily involved, and also Mr. Nishioka, the armor maker supplied pictures... The Japanese delegation was very happy to receive the yearbook, as they did not have all these color pictures.

All I can say - and I'm sure all the members who attended the symposium and Grand Tour would unanimously agree - is that you were conspicuous by your absence. I can think of no other person who should have been in attendance - and who would have delighted in seeing and experiencing all that we did. Granted, it was certainly a tiring whirlwind of a tour, but the quality of attendees, discussions, collections, exhibitions and relationship building was off the charts.

You were sorely missed.

From the beginning, this is what the JAS has been all about: study, scholarship, cultural exchange, the sharing of ideas, friendship and camaraderie (not necessarily in that order). Nothing else.
